Google is bringing Android apps to Chromebooks
MIS Asia — Google’s Play Store for Android will be coming to Chrome OS, the lightweight operating system that powers Chromebook laptops, the company announced Thursday. That means Chromebook users will be able to download and install apps made for Android onto their Chromebooks, expanding the base of applications available for those devices. Previously, Chromebooks were able to run only applications built for Chrome.

Shipments of Chromebooks integrated with Google Play set to increase

Android security bug threatens millions of devices

FBI promises to share iPhone unlock with other authorities
IT News — The Federal Bureau of Investigation has assured law enforcement across the United States that it will help unlock mobile devices such as iPhones involved in investigations when it is allowed by law and policy. The FBI said in a letter to local authorities that it understands the challenges they face and that they lack necessary tools to monitor and investigate the communications of suspects who use encrypted mobile devices, according to the correspondence obtained by Reuters on Friday.

Android malware doubled in 2015: Report
NEW DELHI:Smartphone security is the new concern as cases of Android malware were reported to have doubled in 2015 as compared to 2014, said a new report which warned that, in 2016, more hacks on smart technologies could result in fatal privacy damage. The annual security report from security software company Trend Micro also noted that the rise in Android malware is owing to the aggressive adoption of smart technologies.
PC shipments up 10.6% in Q4 2015: Gartner
Times of India — MUMBAI: Gartner said shipments of personal computers in India grew nearly 11% in the fourth-quarter, but the research firm added that it does not see significant growth in the market going forward. PC shipments in India totalled nearly 2.6 million units, Gartner said. The research firm showed that Lenovo increased its share of the market to 25.3% for the quarter ended December 31, 2015, from 18% a year ago.
40% of Dell India’s sales comes from channel partners
Times of India — PUNE: Almost two years after Dell revamped its go-to-market strategy, channel partners account for 40% of the American computer technology company’s sales. The share of the channel partners is higher in India than the global average for the company, Neeraj Matiyani, director, storage solutions, enterprise solutions group, at Dell India said without sharing exact numbers.
Viettel launches carrier billing for Google Play
Telecom Asia — Viettel has become Vietnam’s first operator to offer to offer direct carrier billing for the Google Play store. The operator has teamed up with carrier billing company Fortumo to offer carrier billing to its 55 million subscribers. Both postpaid and prepaid customers will be able to take advantage of the new function.

Android trojan alert: Customers of 20 major global banks at risk

Huawei MateBook shipments expected to reach 400,000 units in 2016

Dell increases sourcing of PC component from China

Huawei goes luxe with MateBook

China’s Huawei Officially Enters PC Market

NTT Com adds OpenStack, Cloud Foundry and bare metal option to global cloud service
